Physical Features of Oaxaca magic mushrooms

The cap is 3 to 7 cm broad with a slight depression in the center.

The cap is often yellowish-brown to reddish-brown. Some have a silvery-blue metallic luster, but others are paler at the margin. They dry to a beige or straw yellow color.

These mushrooms bruise blue when handled. The younger specimens are bruised blue, sometimes even blackish.

The gills are whitish, yellowish-grey when young. Then, they become dark violaceous brown to sepia brown with age. But, the edges remain whitish.

The stipe is quite long and thick. It is equal to or enlarging at the base.

The color is whitish to reddish-brown or blackish and bruises blue. Rhizomorphs are sometimes attached to the base.

The veil is well-developed but does not form a permanent annulus.
